CPA TAX SERVICES

U.S.-side tax support for cross-border equity compensation

Equity compensation can involve work, residence, payroll and reporting records from more than one country. Tavella CPA Group accepts defined U.S.-side engagements to review the award timeline, relevant work and residence facts, payroll and brokerage records, and the U.S. tax analysis or return coordination included in the written scope. Foreign-country advice and filings remain with a separately engaged adviser.

Discuss U.S.-Side Cross-Border Equity

Build the timeline from the award and work records

An accepted engagement can review grant, vesting, exercise, settlement and sale records alongside relevant work locations and changes of residence. The deliverable identifies the U.S. allocation or projection analysis accepted for review, its assumptions and unresolved facts. Moving between countries does not make every award, tax year or treaty position part of the engagement.

Reconcile the reporting and adviser handoff

Where included, we compare payroll and brokerage records with the accepted U.S. analysis and identify questions for the employer, broker or foreign-country adviser. U.S. return preparation, amended returns and additional jurisdictions are included only when expressly accepted. Coordination does not make Tavella responsible for another adviser's filings or conclusions.

Scope boundaries

Engagements are accepted case by case for defined U.S.-side tax work. The written scope identifies the countries, tax years, analysis and return coordination included. Foreign-country returns, treaty opinions, employer-plan administration, valuation and investment recommendations are not included. Foreign-country advice and filings remain with a separately engaged adviser. No universal country coverage or particular tax result is promised.

Start with the award and countries involved

In the inquiry, describe the award type, countries involved, relevant year and upcoming event or deadline. Keep award documents, tax identifiers and payroll or account records out of the inquiry message. Sensitive records follow the firm's existing secure process after the next step is agreed.
