Does income connected with another state always require a return there?
Not always. Each state applies its own residency definitions, filing thresholds, income-sourcing rules, and exceptions. The facts and current instructions for every connected state must be reviewed before the filing list is confirmed.
Can business and owner state returns be prepared together?
Potentially. A coordinated engagement can include accepted partnership, S corporation, or C corporation returns and the related owner returns. Each entity, owner, federal return, state return, and service must be listed in the written scope.
Will a credit for taxes paid to another state prevent double taxation?
A resident-state credit may apply, but it is not automatic and may be limited by the income type, tax paid, source-state calculation, and resident-state rules. A credit also does not eliminate a source-state return that is otherwise required.
Is this the same as the New York or New Jersey to Florida move-year service?
No. This service addresses broader multi-state return preparation for individuals and accepted businesses. The separate move-year service focuses on people relocating from New York or New Jersey to Florida and the part-year, nonresident, wage-sourcing, property, business, and investment reporting connected with that move.
Can Tavella CPA Group prepare a return in every state?
No blanket promise is made for every jurisdiction. Availability depends on the service, states, return types, records, deadlines, licensing or authorization requirements, and current capacity. The filing list and scope are confirmed before an engagement begins.
How do I upload documents?
After engagement setup, use the secure client portal and the upload instructions provided by Tavella CPA Group. Do not send Social Security numbers, tax returns, bank information, or other sensitive documents through the public contact form or ordinary email.
Is this service cloud-based?
Yes. Organizers, secure document uploads, messages, electronic signatures, invoices, and final documents can be handled online through the appropriate secure workflow.
Are additional states included?
Only the federal and state filings listed in the written scope are included. If another state filing is identified, the additional scope and fee are confirmed before that work proceeds.
How long will preparation take?
Timing depends on the service, complexity, completeness of the information provided, filing deadline, and current availability. Expected timing is discussed when the scope is confirmed; submitting a consultation request does not reserve a filing deadline.
What happens if information is missing?
Tavella CPA Group will identify the missing items and explain what is needed next. Preparation or filing may need to pause until the required information is received, and any deadline or extension options will be discussed based on the circumstances.
Is audit or notice representation included?
Only when representation is expressly included in the written engagement. Audit, examination, and notice-response work are otherwise reviewed and scoped separately.
